Clash Royale Season 78: Heroic Holidays kicks off on December 1, 2025 at 1am PST.

Season 78 is holiday-themed, with special “Clashmas” events and seasonal rewards including a new Lucky Chest. Elite Wild Cards are getting removed, and the new progression system makes it easier for lower level players to catch up fast. But for high level players, upgrades now cost more cards, gold, and gems, so progressing past level 15 takes a lot more effort.

Ranked battles will stay capped at level 15 for 7 seasons, until May 2026.

This update adds Hero Cards to the game, which are upgraded versions of normal troops but with abilities you can actually use during battle. They’re different from Evolutions and Champions, and they change how some decks play.

There are four new Hero Cards in Season 78: Hero Mini P.E.K.K.A, Hero Knight, Hero Giant, and Hero Musketeer. You can unlock them by collecting Hero Fragments from Hero Boxes or special events once you reach Arena 15.

The season also includes the release of Level 16 cards, changes to Lucky Drops, a new currency called Crystals, and a full rework of how you upgrade cards and earn rewards.

The new season adds four extra arenas to the end of Trophy Road, starting at 10,000 trophies and going up to 12,000. Each one comes with new milestone rewards, so players pushing ladder have something fresh to grind for.

People are kind of split on how this season will go. Some are excited for the new content, others aren’t sure how the changes will play out.

This looks to be a solid update for new players since leveling up will likely be easier, but high level players might find it harder to keep progressing with the new upgrade costs.

Popular Clash Royale creators like Mr. ClashBroyale (@ClashBroyale) have pointed out that the Lucky Drop nerfs and Level 16 changes could really hurt the game.

Either way, it all starts December 1st at 1am PST, so make sure you’re ready!
